Mother and Kit
Wyoming

A family of red foxes took up residence in Pahaska Tepee, the name of William Buffalo Bill Cody's old hunting lodge. The now-abandoned log lodge lies just outside the east entrance of Yellowstone National Park. The parents had a litter of kits under the lodge. Once the kits came out of their den, they were so much fun to watch. They chased each other, poked their heads out of numerous holes in the lodge's foundation, and put on a show I'll never forget. Since they couldn't yet use their tails to balance themselves, they would fall over and down the stairs as they wrestled each other, and never seemed to notice where they ended up.

As this image depicts, the little foxes kiss their parents in hopes of getting a regurgitated meal after the parents return from hunting.
