An 8-month old grizzly bear cub appears to be on alert as it chews a salmon tail while its mother looks for more salmon off-camera. The cub's sibling was killed just a few days before this photo was taken when a grizzly bear boar chased, caught and killed the cub. After that, I noticed this cub seemed very aware of potential danger, more so than other cubs of that age. Grizzly bear boars pose high danger for cubs. Boats see the cubs as an obstacle to mating with the mother since the mother does not mate until her cubs are on their own at about 3 to 4 years of age.
