Watching
Great Bear Rainforest, British Columbia

A large grizzly bear boar keeps an eye out as he lumbers along a salmon-filled creek in the Great Bear Rainforest along British Columbia's coastline.

Bears hunt and eat spawning salmon all day long in late summer and early fall to fatten up in preparation for the long winter hibernation that starts in late October or November. The bears come out of hibernation in April or May with most of their fat reserves gone.
