About

Whenever I photograph a wild creature going about its life, I feel intensely alive, like I’m inhaling a triple shot of expresso. Whether I’m observing a huge grizzly bear splash in a stream or a tiny bird carry mouthfuls of nourishing insects back to its babies, I feel immense wonder and gratitude witnessing nature at work. It’s my goal to use my photos to convey how delightful and intriguing and inspiring the simple but energetic lives of wild creatures can be.

As a photographer, nature writer and wildlife advocate, I spend part of each year photographing and writing about wildlife and other nature subjects in the American and Canadian west.

My work has been published by the Seattle Times, KOMO, KING 5 News, Alaska Magazine, Birder’s World, Northwest, In the Pacific Northwest, Kenmore Airlines Magazine, Utah Life, and the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society Newsletter, among others. My images have also been used in a variety of advertising and marketing campaigns through my company, Cut to the Chase Marketing. Several of my images have also appeared in two books, The Exultant Ark and Natural Skagit: A Journey from Mountains to Sea.
